I thought I should post a list of the palms I have at my house, and in my yard. Most of these are outside plants, and get a varying degree of protection in the winter. However, a few obvious ones, like the Coconut Palm, are Summer only outsiders.

- I'm a 40ish, very outgoing and talkative - and most would say rather eccentric - ecclectic guy. I live in a cute, turn of the century rowhouse in Northwest, Washington, D.C (USDA zone 7A.) I'm a collector of palms - a fact that might seem obvious given the title of this blog - particularly the cold hardy variety, and enjoy experimenting with, caring for and testing their outside long-term viability. I also collect indoor plams that just can't hack the DC winter, even with extraordinary protections. I have about 22 different varieties of palms on site. I'm also a competitive bench presser, holding the Virginia State record for my age and weight in the RAW bench press (270 lbs bench/181 weight class/40-44 years old). Additionally, I hold a silver medal in the bench press from the '06 Gay Games in Chicago. I'm also an avid Civl War buff, and especially enjoy tracing the steps of General Stonewall Jackson (5 of my great, great, great grandfathers served under him in the Confederate Army) I also love to cook, and just about anything outdoors.
